Volunteer Positions

Volunteer Coordinator

As a volunteer coordinator you would be a big asset. You are a middleman for Volunteers and Volunteer leads who report regularly to the Coordinator, who then reports to home office staff. This is to make sure that each volunteer is provided with a good experience that matches their expectations. As Coordinator you would oversee volunteer schedules and ensure accountability, which would take up the bulk of your time. This position is remote, and most of the work can be done Online, however we at times would like the Coordinator to come to meetings and share volunteer concerns with us.

All volunteers must submit to a background check before the start of service.

Possibility of becoming a PAID position.

Youth Mentor

Some of our students need extra attention, whether that be because they have attention issues, problems at home, or simply act out. A Mentor’s responsibility is to partner with the staff to determine which students need the most attention. These are the kids the Mentor will focus on, spending the majority of their time with these students walking them through activities or homework, getting to know them and assuring they respect their instructors. For this reason, we are looking for younger people, High School to College age who can assert a positive impact on their assigned students. At SYFC we believe in enriching the children in our after school program through projects, crafts, field trips and other opportunities. However, some of our children come from an immigrant background and while fluent in English, do not have the homework help at home when it comes to reading. Tutors would work separately with children to complete reading assignments and reading based games. We need a tutor who understands the value reading can add to a child’s life and the skills in phonetics to bring that value to life. We offer flexible scheduling, professional development and other benefits to show our appreciation. We would love to have someone who has previous experience tutoring, but that is not a deal-breaker.
