SYFC works with students, supporting them academically – with homework help and fun, engaging academic activities. Our professional staff and volunteer tutors are bi- or multilingual (English, Somali, Arabic, Amharic, and Swahili) and multicultural. Daily activities are based on student interest and academic need with goals to support students in social-emotional learning, reading, and STEAM.

SYFC also works closely with parents, supporting them with navigating the school system, check their child’s grades, and understanding their goals for their child’s learning. We provide healthy snacks and educational games and activities, in addition to our academic support and field trips.

Our school-age programs also include the summer weekends, when we provide activities including soccer, swimming classes in partnership with the YMCA, and our Girls Leadership Academy, create opportunities for girls to build confidence and take on leadership roles in their community at Creston point apartments. SYFC staff is trained in trauma-informed restorative practices.
